From insight to action: working with the practices you can take back into real relationships.

How you communicate is downstream of how you relate.

How you relate is downstream of your state. Ironically, your state is shaped by how you relate to the people you’re around.

What I've been noticing that has inspired this workshop

People hating being on apps but feeling there's no other way to find and meet people

  • Algorithms flattening everything

  • Feeling loneliness despite being surrounded by people

  • Wanting to be on our phones less, but feeling like we will cease to exist without them

  • YouTube videos on how to communicate, titled "think faster, speak clearer," and "how to be a super communicator"

  • People attempting to escape insecurity through cosmetic surgery and looks maxing – and the subconscious hope that this will lead to feeling a sense of connection & worthiness.

  • Personally, feeling nostalgic about old late-night TV shows and the quick wit and humor of people being interviewed in the 80s and 90s

  • The depersonalization of so many businesses that have been bought out by private equity

  • A friend telling me how disappointed he was that a rural coffee shop in northern Morocco didn’t have Oatly.

  • In an attempt not to offend each other, we lose uniqueness and personality in our society

INTENTION OF THE WORKSHOP

Discovering new ways of communicating and connecting.

When we're in the presence of others, everything seems to happen so quickly. It's hard for us to practice new ways of relating in real-life interactions.

This two-day experience is a way to slow down how we relate to each other so we can find new ways of communicating and connecting.

This workshop will not teach you how to relate, but you will get to discover how you relate, and therefore you will get to choose and practice how you want to relate going forward.

STANDARDS AND CAVEATS

This workshop is practical and an embodied, experiential way of learning. This is not a motivational, inspirational event. We're not fueling ourselves with affirmations and positivity. You may feel triggered. You may feel affected by people in the room. These are all essential parts of the process: mirrors that help us to see ourselves more clearly.

This is intended to be a transformational experience, and you may not feel good and comfortable during it or after. The process of seeing ourselves more clearly can be uncomfortable.

Thus, we offer opportunities for support and integration post-event. If you do not feel ready or willing to meet and work with these triggers and discomforts, we do not recommend attending.

A dear teacher of mine once said to me, there is no such thing as a safe space because we can’t control everything that happens. But, what we can offer is a supportive space for you to meet the things that do come up for you. It is by being supported through challenge that we grow.
